Custom Built Tutus
A Perfomance tutu is a labor intensive costume that produces a dress able to enhance a dancer's performance and not hinder their movements.
Our tutus are made from diamond net pleated onto a cotton bobbinette panty with a stiffened Basque around the dancer's waist. Tutus are held closed by strong hooks applied in an alternating pattern to prevent accidental opening.
Our bodice is made with a cotton satin lining for stability and comfort, spiral steel bones for strength, and fashion fabric as desired by the customer. All trimmings are securely sewn down, not glued.
The bodices attach to the tutu Basque by way of buttonhole elastic, allowing the bodice to be easily removed for cleaning while being secure for performance. The top edge of our bodices is corded so that it can be tied "snug" at the back of the bodice. The side seams are made with 1" seam allowance to allow for adjustablity from one performer to the next if necessary.

This tutu was a bodice rebuild – the bodice was falling apart, so a new one was made and new plate decorations applied to an existing tutu. The bodice is sewn to the tutu.
A hoop was also added to the platter.

This tutu has a lycra bodice attached to what was a soft purchased tutu.
My reconstruction added more layers of diamond net, a hoop and new plate work.
New bodice trimming was also part of this reconstruction. New arm poofs.
